Save Network Setups to The Shelf #QuickTip 6 of 30

If you have a network setup you would like to save and quickly recreate, Houdini has a nifty trick for you that lets you save network setups to the shelf. No need to manually recreate or copy and paste from one scene to the other.

Save Network Setups to The Shelf

This is like creating a preset. Just select all the nodes in your network or select an object level node and drag it to your self. If you are selecting multiple nodes in a network, Houdini will ask you a few questions about creating the shelf tool such your input and output nodes. The shelf tool will keep all your expressions and connections intact. If you want to learn more about shelf tools, I made a few #QuickTips on this topic.

I am a motion designer & developer based out of South Florida.
When not designing or animating pixels, I wrangle some code. If all else fails, I watch Twilight Zone, I Love Lucy, or Three’s Company reruns.
